Trade Show Booth Sphere – Projection Mapping Installation
Experiential Trade Show AV & Projection Mapping
For this trade show installation, AVFX partnered with Sparks (formerly Group Delphi) to create a visually engaging exhibit centered around a 12-foot spherical display.
Exhibited in Washington, DC, the concept pushed the boundaries of projection mapping at the time.
The Challenge
Creating a seamless visual experience on a non-traditional surface:
- A 12-foot sphere fabricated in two sections and assembled on-site
- The need to deliver a continuous, distortion-free image across a curved surface
- Synchronizing multiple projectors to function as a single visual system
The goal was to create motion and depth without physical movement.
The Solution
AVFX designed and executed a multi-projector mapping system:
- Spherical Projection Mapping
Transforming the globe into a dynamic visual display surface
- Multi-Projector Blending
Eight projectors calibrated and blended to create a seamless image across the sphere
- Content Alignment & Motion Design
Graphics engineered to appear as if they were moving across the surface while the structure remained stationary
Close collaboration with the presentation design team ensured visual continuity and accuracy.
The Outcome
The result was a visually distinctive trade show installation that captured attention and demonstrated the potential of projection mapping in experiential environments.
As an early example of this technology in action, the project laid the groundwork for more advanced immersive designs AVFX continues to deliver today.
