At AVFX, traditions have a way of rolling right along.
When a large project is ready to ship, our team tags each AV equipment case with a brightly colored strip of tape for quick identification. Every shipment is clearly labeled with the details needed to reach its event destination, and our color-coding system keeps the loading dock process fast and organized.
When those cases return from a show, we peel off one strip of tape and add it to the Tape Ball; a growing symbol of our collective effort and the miles we’ve traveled as a team.
Over eight years, that humble ball of tape grew to an impressive 442 pounds by the end of 2016.
Meet the Mascot
Each year, our Tape Ball gets its moment in the spotlight during the Annual Tape Ball Weigh-In, a lighthearted company tradition that brings the team together. Everyone gathers around to make their best guess before the mascot is rolled onto the scale. The closest guess earns bragging rights and an engraved trophy to keep until the next weigh-in.
It’s more than just a competition. The Tape Ball reminds us of every show we’ve supported, every city we’ve traveled to, and every success we’ve shared along the way.
This year, our beloved mascot packed on a few extra pounds, tipping the scale at 521 lbs.
