Wellesley College Fundraising Event
Lighting Design & Experiential Audio Installation
When a Wellesley College fundraising event shifted from a tented setup to a non-traditional indoor venue, the entire creative approach had to evolve quickly.
AVFX was brought in to reimagine the environment and deliver a production design that matched the ambition of the campaign.
The Challenge
The shift in venue created immediate pressure:
- A complete redesign of the event environment on a tight timeline
- A need to elevate a familiar space into something unexpected and engaging
- Maintaining alignment with the campaign’s visual identity and emotional tone
This required both speed and creative precision.
The Solution
AVFX led the transformation through strategic lighting design and immersive audio:
- Architectural Lighting Design
Using the campaign’s five thematic colors, AVFX designers reshaped the space by:- Highlighting architectural features
- Creating depth and visual contrast
- Delivering a cohesive, branded environment
- Walkway of Gratitude (Audio Experience)
At the entrance, AVFX designed a multi-channel audio installation featuring layered voices in different languages expressing gratitude.
This created an immediate emotional connection as guests arrived.
Every element was designed to shift perception and elevate the overall experience.
The Outcome
The result was a dramatic transformation of the venue, with lighting and sound redefining how guests experienced the space.
Even attendees familiar with the location noted the impact of the design, reinforcing how thoughtful production can completely reshape an environment.
As Marjorie Randell-Silver, producer and creative director at Copper Leaf Productions, shared:
“AVFX was a great creative partner… we needed to work on a very tight timeline to create a completely different style event. Ultimately, it was a resounding success for the client.”
