There was a 30-minute, five-channel video installation which features live action, song, and the innovative animation for which Kentridge is known. The piece came out of years of discussion and collaboration between Kentridge and Peter Galison, professor of History of Science at Harvard University, about different historical conceptions of time.
The museum built a custom theatre to Mr. Kentridge’s specifications and staged his unique combination of projection, sound and sculpture. The video is projected on to three walls and a “breathing” sculpture sits in the middle of the room. Very heady stuff, and totally creative.
Make sure you watch the The Refusal of Time video.
