Perform daily operations contributing to equipment being transported to/from AVFX for shows and events.  Pick up and return cross rental gear. Assist fellow warehouse staff members with unpacking equipment in the warehouse when not on the road.


The Lead Driver / Warehouse Technician reports to the Warehouse Manager and Production Manager. This position functions as a member of a team to ensure warehouse operations are running smoothly and equipment is getting to and from the site in a timely and orderly fashion. As the Lead Driver, you will be responsible for tracking maintenance for the AVFX fleet; consisting of (1) cargo van, (2) 15’ box trucks, (1) 22’ box truck, and (1) 24’ box truck. When not on the road, the Lead Driver assists the other warehouse staff with unpacking gear and warehouse maintenance.

Specific tasks:

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and DOT medical card.
  • Drive van, 15’, and 24’ trucks, with a capacity of fewer than 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, to deliver and/or pick up AVFX equipment, packages, merchandise, employees, and other goods.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Track vehicle maintenance, coordinate with the Warehouse Manager and Production Manager to schedule the required services.
  • General upkeep of trucks and van – keep the interior and exterior clean.
  • Fill trucks/van with fuel and submit all receipts for reconciliation.
  • Abide by all laws and rules of the road.
  • Arrive on time and prepared with any necessary directions for the day’s route.
  • Verify the contents of pallets and/or gear that are to be shipped with shipping papers, or have arrived at AVFX.
  • Unpack returned gear and check that all gear has appropriate items in cases.
  • Provide assistance with additional duties to other employees and/or technicians of AVFX as required.

Required Skills:

  • Current, valid Driver’s license in good standing.
  • Routes are primarily in the greater Boston area but will occasionally include deliveries out of state, for example, New York and Rhode Island.
  • Experience driving non-CDL trucks up to 26’ / GVW 26,000lbs.
  • Class B CDL is not required but is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Willing to work in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with truck routes in cities of Boston, Cambridge and surrounding areas.
  • Position requires heavy lifting – must be able to consistently lift 50lbs unassisted.
  • Position requires physical demands including bending, kneeling, squatting, walking, and sitting for extended periods. Will need to be able to climb in and out of trucks.
  • Occasional early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance.
  • AV Rental / Staging Industry experience a plus.
