Every year, hundreds of advertising agency professionals gather for The Ad Club’s Hatch Awards (named after one of Boston’s legendary ad men). This year they braved the crowds to see and be seen and they weren’t disappointed with the show. This was the 55th year and the event was held at the House of Blues. This was the second year AVFX Boston provided precision projection services including projection mapping on eight stationery 3-D scenic elements and a group of blocks that were stacked to become the podium, DJ booth and, of course, a giant Hatch Award Bowl.
The audience came to see the best of more than 1,000 submissions. By the end of the evening, 195 ad agencies, in-house agencies and a few outstandingly talented students took home gold, silver and bronze bowls.
The Best of Show Award went to Mullen Lowe for Jet Blue’s Flying it Forward campaign.

TECH TALK: AVFX has staged countless events at the House of Blues, but this was the most elaborate presentation we’ve ever focused on their stage. An AVFX technical director called the show and two of our video engineers calibrated five 20,000 lumen projectors on the main screen, eight stationery scenic elements and a group of blocks that were stacked to become the podium, DJ booth and, of course, a giant Hatch Award Bowl. The main screen was 32 feet wide and 18 feet high and the five 20K projectors were converged (66+ feet away) into perfect registration for added brightness and redundancy.
